The Tata Nexon EV becomes India’s first EV to sell over 1,000 units in monthly sales. The electric car segment is growing rapidly in India. The Government is offering a ton of subsidies to make EVs more affordable and attractive. Huge discounts are being offered in the form of cash discounts, waiving of registration fees, etc to promote EV adoption in the country. While the current infrastructure is not ideal, there have been plenty of developments in that regard as well. It will take a long time though but at least, we are on the right track. Hence, the EVs are here to stay. Also, with stricter becoming emission regulations day by day, the cost to keep updating the existing technology in the IC engines will rise substantially. This will force the manufacturers to start offering EVs more aggressively anyway.
