Adding another feather to the already celebrated cap of the Nexon EV, the Indian Air Force introduced the electric SUV into its fleet.
Indian Air Force took a step to support the government’s green mobility initiative by introducing the Tata Nexon EV into its fleet at headquarters in New Delhi. In this first batch, 12 electric SUVs have been bought by the IAF. Nexon EV is the highest-selling EV in our market and owns over 60% of the market share to itself. More EVs are being sold in our market at various price points ranging from affordable EVs to high-end premium EVs. All of this points toward the future of electric mobility.

Indian Air Force Buys Tata Nexon EV
The flag-off ceremony was initiated by the Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari. It took place at the Air Force headquarters in New Delhi. As per the report by Mint, “Indian Air Force is planning to enhance the usage of electric vehicles in a progressive manner by procuring e-vehicles against downgraded conventional vehicles. Augmentation of the e-vehicles ecosystem, including installation of charging infrastructure at various Air Force bases, is also planned,” said the Ministry of Defence in a press release.

Needless to say, there will be charging infrastructure developed around the EVs at various Air Force bases. These 12 EVs will be operational in Delhi NCR for performance monitoring and analysis. These steps indicate the measures of the Indian Defence Forces toward adopting and promoting green mobility.

Tata Nexon EV features a 30.2kWh lithium-ion battery that offers an ARAI-claimed range of 312 km. It produces 129 PS of max power and 245 Nm of peak torque. The Max version of the Nexon EV offers 141 bhp and 250 Nm. It has a 40.5 kWh battery pack with an ARAI-certified range of 437 km.
