The Tata Nexon Dark Edition has finally made it to market, retailing at a starting price of Rs 10.40 lakh (ex-showroom). It’s noteworthy here that the trend of these all-black vehicles was started with the Harrier last year and even though the Harrier’s Dark version has been updated recently, it’s not wrong to say that the new special edition of the Nexon takes plenty of inspiration from its bigger sibling. And just in case you wonder how these two would look together, here’s a short video that shows the SUVs parked together!
Like the Harrier, the Tata Nexon Dark Edition comes painted in Atlas Black and misses out on all the chrome bits of the regular model for a bolder look. Instead, it gets a dark grey trim and even the same shade for the grille to complete the ‘dark’ look of the vehicle. In fact, the carmaker has taken this black paint scheme so seriously that even the badges have been blacked out. While you see the ICE version in the video above, Tata Motors has also rolled out a similar black edition of the Nexon EV, which has gone on sale at a starting price of Rs 15.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The electric variant retains the metallic blue highlights that are found on the normal variants. Inside, the light shades have been done away with and instead, you get a predominantly dark colour palette with black and dark grey shades in every part of the cabin.
Like we said, even the Tata Harrier Dark Edition has been re-launched with some updates, the most major of which is the introduction of the Blackstone 18-inch alloy wheels that replace the 17-inch units of the earlier version. Other than this, the refreshed all-black version of the Harrier retails the Atlas Black exterior paint and the dark trims that were found in the earlier version. Mechanically, everything has been left untouched, which means the new models of the Nexon continue with the three available engine options on the ‘non-Dark’ variants- 1.2-litre turbo-petrol, 1.5-litre turbo-diesel and a 3-phase permanent synchronus electric powerhouse.
Coming back to the video embedded above, it can be seen that the Tata Nexon Dark Edition looks the perfect younger sibling of the all-black Harrier While it does miss out on thr radical multi-port lighting arrangement, the full dark paint scheme does play a huge part in lending these two vehicles a similar look. What do you think? Do you find the new version of the Nexon to be as bold as its bigger sibling?
