Tata Nexon AMT launch in coming weeks. Debut at Auto Expo 2018. Will come in both petrol and Diesel engine variants
The Nexon is undoubtedly one of the best we’ve seen from Tata Motors. The new compact SUV from the company looks nothing like anything out on the road and comes with really potent petrol and Diesel engines along with a long list of features and a fairly spacious cabin. However, the inclusion of AMT automatic transmission can surely work wonders, I guess. Now, it seems like the company is indeed very close to launching AMT variants of both engine variants. It’s highly likely that the XZA trim of the new Nexon AMT will offer a new Mari Gold paint option. Additionally, the top-end variant is likely to offer features like a Sunroof, at least as an option. Speculations abound that the production of the new variant will commence early next year and a launch in the first-quarter of next year can’t really be ruled out. It doesn’t look the exterior and the interior would receive any updates to the styling. Prices are likely to roughly Rs 40-45,000 higher than those of the corresponding manual trims.

Well, Tata Motors is yet to make an official statement on the launch date of the AMT variant. However, it looks like the new model will launch by the end of the first-quarter of next year. Prices are likely to start at Rs 6.35 lakh. Basically, the AMT variants would command a price premium of Rs 40-45,000 over the corresponding manual transmission trims.

There won’t be any change in the engine specifications either. Both the engine options – 1.2-litre turbo petrol and 1.5-litre turbo Diesel – will be carried over without any change. The petrol engine outputs a maximum power of 108 bhp along with a peak torque of 170 Nm. The Diesel engine also outputs a maximum power of 108 bhp along with a peak torque of 260 Nm. Both the motors come mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. The compact SUV offers multiple drive modes – City, Economy, Sport.
