As digital services become more common, scammers also adopt new methods to loot people.
In the latest news, a Tata Motors RSA scam has surfaced. RSA, for the uninitiated, refers to Road Side Assistance. In today’s age, many people buy it along with the new car. It takes care of situations where your car might be stuck in some far-flung area due to some fault in the car or an accident. In such scenarios, the RSA company will send a towing vehicle to take your car away free of cost. Hence, one gets that peace of mind regarding not getting stranded on the side of the road. However, there are a few scam artists who use this service as an opportunity to extort money from car owners. Here is one such case.

Tata Motors RSA Scam
The information regarding this was shared by a certain Nikhil Joshi on the Tata Tiago Owners India page on Facebook. He mentions that a lady called her claiming that she is speaking from Tata Motors. She said that the Tata Motors Road Side Assistance Card of the owner is ready and she would have it delivered to his address. What is concerning is that she said that this card includes free refuelling and free crane charges for a lifetime. However, she asked for Rs 4,500 one-time payment.

This alerted the Tiago owner and he didn’t give her his address and disconnected the call. Immediately after that, he called his nearest Tata Motors dealership and inquired about this RSA scheme. Much to his surprise and relief, he was informed that this was a scam and Tata Motors has not launched any such deal. He is sharing these details in the FB group so that others could be warned before this happens to them. Unfortunately, such scams are rather common not just with Tata Motors, but with every carmaker.

What We Think
We would like to advise our readers to always be wary of such fraudulent calls because these are getting more and more common irrespective of which car you own. The aim of these scammers is to extort money from you. If you trust them blindly, you are set to part with your money. We would recommend that you always cross-check any such offers from your trusted and official dealership. The scammers might pressurize you into believing that the offer might run out if you don’t act fast, but you must ignore it and confirm from the dealership if there are any offers. That is the only way to protect yourself from such people.
