2018 will mark Tata’s 20th anniversary at the Geneva Motor Show. The automaker has been participating in the show since 1998.
Our regular readers will be aware of Tata Motor’s aggressive retake of the Indian car market. The automaker has announced that it will showcase a new sedan concept at the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show. Several reports on the web suggested that Tata’s latest platform that underpins the H5X and the 45X will span two more vehicles and the new sedan concept is to be one of them. Tata Motors already showcased the H5X and the 45X at the 2018 Auto Expo. The upcoming Tata sedan concept will carry the latest Impact Design 2.0 design language as well. The latest teaser trailer released by Tata motors shows only a part of the upcoming Tata sedan concept. The narrow headlamps, Tri-arrow pattern on the front bumper and the well-sculpted bonnet are the only details the image gives away. The LED headlamps, LED fog lights and LED daytime running lights (DRL) can be clearly seen in the teaser image shared by Tata earlier this week. Apart from these, since the concept is based on Tata’s Design Impact 2.0, the concept will carry a sloping roofline and a prominent boot. The front bumper will carry foglights somewhat similar to the ones seen on the H5X concept. The teaser image released showcases the concept painted in a shade of blue.

Several reports on the web suggest that the production-spec sedan could carry retuned versions of the Revotron and Revotorq engines paired with a manual or automatic gearbox. Tata Motors is currently working to develop a dual-clutch transmission in-house. It is likely that we see the same on the sedan concept. According to floating rumours, a JTP performance version and a hybrid version of this sedan are also on the cards. According to recent media reports, Tata Motor’s board is yet to give green light to this project. The estimated cost for this project is around INR 400 crore.

Tata is yet to release its entire lineup for the upcoming 2018 Geneva Motor Show. The automaker will likely showcase all its concepts carrying the Impact Desing 2.0 design language to gauge the response from the customers of export markets and to showcase the automaker’s ability to produce products of global standard and in-line with the global design. Tata will also present the Racemo +- EV along with the rest of the lineup and the electric sportscar will make its European debut at the show.
Tata Motor’s press conference is scheduled for 6th March 2018 between 11:30 to 11:45 a.m. The upcoming Tata sedan concept will compete in the mid-size sedan segment that is ruled by the likes of Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, Honda City, Hyundai Verna and the latest entry, the Toyota Vios. Geneva Motor Show is one of the world’s largest motor show and exhibitors from around the world participate to showcase their company’s prowess and concepts at the expo.
