Joining the Tiago hatchback in Tata‘s product portfolio will be a new compact sedan, which will go on sale as Tata Tigor. Until now, it had been referred to by its internal codename and also the name of its concept version “Kite 5”. The upcoming Tata Kite 5 compact sedan or Tigor compact sedan will be a logical replacement for the very successful Indigo eCS. Basically, the Kite 5 is the sedan derivative of the Tiago hatchback. The Tiago-derived sedan, which made its debut at the Auto Expo 2016, should be out by April, 2017. Prices will start at around Rs. 4 lakhs for the base petrol variant. Here, on this page, we have all the Tata Tigor aka Tata Kite 5 launch date, along with the available information on its price, features, specifications and variants.

Tata Tigor Exterior Design
As has always been the case with compact sedans in India, the upcoming Tiago-based sedan will share most of its design with the donor hatchback. This means that its front-end of the Kite sedan will be characterised by wraparound headlamps and a wide honeycomb radiator grille. The design of the upcoming Tata sedan is expected to bog similar to that of the Tiago till around the C-pillar, with the major difference arising out of the longer rear overhang on the sedan sibling. The pre-production model shown at the Auto Expo was seen flaunting smoked headlamps, a feature that has been retained. However, it gets a different set of alloy wheels.
As evident from the pictures above, the rear of the Tigor features notchback styling. It gets split tail lamps that get LED detailing. The bumpers get black inserts with chrome detailing. This recessed black element also houses the reflector units and reverse lamp. There’s also a roof-mounted rear spoiler featuring the secondary stop lamp. The final production form gets a different set of allow wheels.
Yet another spy shot of the upcoming Tigor compact sedan reveals it stays true to the model that was on display at the Auto Expo in February 2016.

Tata Tigor Engine and Transmission
As is the case with most compact sedan derivatives, the Tata Tigor aka Kite 5 will also borrow the Tiago’s engine and transmission options. Kite 5 petrol will get a 1.2 L engine with 84 bhp of power and 114 Nm of torque on tap. Diesel variants will get the new 1.05 L unit that makes 69 bhp of max power and 140 Nm of peak torque.
