Check out this drag race between Tata Harrier and Mahindra Scorpio. Harrier is torquier on the paper but Scorpio has better low-end torque.
Here is a 140 BHP battle between Mahindra Scorpio and Tata Harrier. While the Scorpio might get a bigger displacement engine, Harrier goes away with more torque on offer. Check out this quick drag race between them to see who is faster on its toes. You will be surprised as we were!
The youtuber has shown three attempts of the race to get a clear idea. In the first attempt, you can see the Scorpio taking an initial lead. For a couple of seconds, it manages to stay ahead of the Tata Harrier, but soon, the latter overtakes it. Probably, when both of them get into the third gear, Harrier gains speed quicker than Scorpio.

In the second attempt, you can again see Scorpio taking an initial lead and finally, in the last run, Harrier manages to grip on to an early lead. In the long race, the actual winner is Tata Harrier. However, Scorpio takes the cake with the initial acceleration. Now, let’s get to the specifications and figures.
Harrier gets a 2.0 Litre turbo diesel engine that produces 140 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque, mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox. Scorpio, on the other hand, gets a 2.2 Litre turbo diesel engine that produces 140 PS and 320 Nm of peak torque. So, technically Harrier is the more powerful of both offering more torque.
Since Tata Harrier is not tall like Scorpio and is slightly lighter in weight, it picks up in the long race. In the run of 0-100 km/hr Harrier might win, but in the 60 km/hr Scorpio will be the winner. The low-end torque generation is better in the tall-boy SUV which explains the initial pickup.
