The seven-seater iteration of the Tata Harrier is set to make its first official debut at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show next month.
Ever since the launch of the Tata Harrier, we have been hearing about the homegrown automaker eventually launching a 7-seater iteration of the same with a more powerful engine and an automatic gearbox. Recent media reports suggest that this new seven-seater SUV from Tata Motors, which is likely to become its flagship product will make its global debut in its concept form at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show.
We expect the production iteration of the same to make its debut in India sometime during the second half of this year. A recent set of spy images of the test mule of the seven-seater Tata Harrier reveal some interesting details of this vehicle. For starters, we are already aware that the seven-seater will not be named as the Harrier in order to differentiate it from the former. Second, it will have an additional length of 63 mm over the five-seater version.

The test mule seen in the images has a larger overhang in comparison to the Harrier. Not only this, but the roof also seems to be flatter in order to provide the required headroom for the occupants of the third row. Though the front fascia looks quite similar to that of the Harrier, you can notice subtle changes when you view this car from the side. In addition to the increased length and flatter roofline, it also comes with a running board and larger 18-inch alloy wheels borrowed from the Land Rover Discovery.

On the inside, expect the seven-seater version to get a similar cabin layout as that of the five-seater version. The only alterations will be on the third row where Tata Motors can introduce a pair of extra air-con vents.
The Tata H7X is going to come with the same 2.0-litre diesel engien which does its duty on the Harrier. However, instead of churning out 140 BHP, it will produce 170 BHP of power in addition to 350 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options will include a 6-speed manual gearbox in addition to a 6-speed automatic transmission sourced from Hyundai.
In terms of pricing, the production version of the H7X is expected to be priced a premium of INR 1 lakh to INR 1.5 lakh over the Harrier.
