The 7-seater iteration of the Tata Harrier will get a BS-VI complaint and more powerful version of the existing 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine.
We are all well aware of the fact that Tata Motors is currently working on a 7-seater iteration of the Harrier SUV. There have been a number of different speculations regarding the same with several sighting of its test mules reported from India as well as abroad. A recent report published in Autocar India, however, states that it is confirmed that the 7-seater version of this SUV will be part of the brand’s series of launches scheduled for the calendar year 2019.
The Tata Harrier, in its 5-seater version is going to launch in India on the 23rd of January. It is likely that its 7-seater version will make its debut towards the end of this year, probably during the festive season. The interesting thing to note here is that Tata Motors is not going to call the 7-seater version as the Harrier. Instead, it will be named as an all-new entity giving it its own unique identity.

Just like the standard Harrier, this all-new 7-seater SUV will be based on Land Rover D8 platform. For including the third row of seats, The overall length of this vehicle will increase by 62 mm. That said, both the SUV will retain the same wheelbase. Not only this, there have been rumours that the styling of the 7-seater iteration will be slightly different from the Tata Harrier, more so towards the rear in order to increase headroom for the third row of passengers.

The 7-seater version of the Tata Harrier is going to use the same 2.0-litre, Kryotec diesel engine as the 5-seater version. However, it will have a better power output figure which will be in excess of 170 BHP. Torque figures are expected to remain the same at 350 Nm. Unlike the Harrier, this SUV will have a 7-speed automatic gearbox in addition to the 6-speed manual unit. Though not confirmed, there are chances that we may even see a 4×4 variant as well.

Prices for the five-seat Tata Harrier are likely to fall in-between the range of INR 14 lakh to 19 lakh (ex-showroom). Considering this, expect the prices of its seven-seat version to have a starting price of INR 20 Lakh.
