The electric version of the Tata Curvv will launch on August 7, with the petrol and diesel to follow in around a month’s time.
The Tata Curvv EV was recently spotted high speed testing on the Samruddhi Highway. Curvv will be among the first mass-market coupe SUVs in the country. In fact, that is the main attraction of this body type. People would be drawn to this unique shape which will ensure a distinct road presence. Also, the Indian auto giant wants to enter the highly popular mid-size SUV segment to rival the mighty Hyundai Creta. Hence, the Curvv will be positioned above the Nexon and below the Harrier. Finally, Curvv will be one product which will be available in electric, petrol and diesel versions.
Tata Curvv EV High Speed Testing
This video stems from boby g which showcases a clip of the Coupe SUV performing high speed tests on a highway. This looks like the electric version of the Curvv. In fact, the EV badge at the rear confirms its electric credentials. As per the information in the video, the EV was able to reach a speed of 130+ km/h. It may be noted that this road has a maximum permissible speed of 120 km/h. So, by law, the car was being tested at higher than permissible speeds. On the same time, this speed is quite impressive for an electric vehicle. Generally, EVs are not meant for high speed operations since it depletes the range at a faster rate. Hence, a speed of around 130 km/h should be more than enough and most people would hardly drive it over such speeds. Not to mention, there are hardly any highways in India where speeds over 120 km/h are legal.

Our View
I believe Tata Curvv is looking very compelling, especially considering how feature-rich it will be. Also, its demeanour is bound to attract tons of new buyers. Being a Tata car, there won’t be any compromises on safety. Just like many other Tata cars, the Indian carmaker is leveraging the popularity of ICE cars to create EVs. However, Curvv will be the first vehicle which will be built in dedicated ICE and EV iteration from scratch. Let us see how well the customers receive it.
