The Tata Curvv coupe-SUV has been spied undergoing road test yet again. The Indian automotive company unveiled the CURVV concept last year with the intention of competing primarily against the formidable Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, and Maruti Grand Vitara. Within Tata’s lineup, it will occupy a position between the Nexon and Harrier. Let’s delve into the details of what this upcoming SUV might bring to the table.

This post comes from car_universe_yt on Instagram. The video captures the road test of the upcoming mid-size SUV. Someone driving parallel to the Curvv has recorded footage. The entire SUV is wrapped in heavy camouflage. Still, the silhouette is somewhat visible. It has a sleek front section with what appears to be LED DRLs running across the width of the car. The main headlamps are perhaps positioned on the bumper. There are stylish alloy wheels as well. But the exact design is barely visible.

However, the rear profile is quite striking. It has that sloping roofline merging into the boot compartment. That is what will set it apart from the rest of the field once it launches. This oozes a premium vibe. You would find this layout on some high-end luxury cars from the likes of the BMW. That was the most attractive element of the SUV even at the time when it was showcased at the Auto Expo. It will sit between Nexon and Harrier in Tata Motors’ India portfolio.

What’s noteworthy about the CURVV SUV is its potential to come with various powertrain choices, including both petrol and electric options. In the case of the petrol variant, it could be equipped with a new 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. It will offer the flexibility of manual or automatic transmissions. In fact, it might also borrow the diesel engine from the Nexon. However, there is still some uncertainty surrounding the specifics of the electric powertrain. Nevertheless, as the launch date draws near, we expect to gain more insights. Overall, the outlook for the Indian auto giant appears quite optimistic.

What We Think
We’re eagerly anticipating the opportunity to see the CURVV in the flesh. Tata Motors recognizes the burgeoning popularity of the mid-size SUV segment in our country, which is on a significant growth trajectory. In fact, Tata is entering this arena relatively late, but this could work to their advantage. They have the opportunity to observe and learn from the mistakes made by other major automakers in this segment. Consequently, they can strive to meet customer expectations and potentially ensure that the CURVV enjoys a successful launch.
