Tata Aria has always tried to attract customers but unfortunately it did not do well enough. The sales showed a drastic dip after the launch of more loaded and cheaper Mahindra XUV500. To revive the charm of the crossover created at its launch, the company is now offering discounts of Rs.2 lakhs.
The 2 Lakh rupee discount splits into Rs.1.6 Lakh cash discount and Rs.40,000 exchange bonus and is valid until December 2011. This discount comes as an obvious move since all manufacturers suffer from low sales in the month of December and to improve the numbers they offer year end discounts.

This means that the base model is now available around Rs. 10 Lakh while the higher end model stands near Rs. 14 Lakh which is quite attractive for potential buyers. Compared to other cars from the same segment, Mahindra XUV500 and Tata Innova, the Aria now has a better deal to offer.
With Innova the performance figures are not good since Innova, despite getting a bigger engine, offers less power and torque. On the other hand the XUV500 is still better in terms of performance but now seems to be nearly Rs.80,000 pricier than the Aria base, which could affect the former’s sales. The Aria is powered by a 2.2 Litre DICOR CRDI Diesel Engine with dual mass flywheel, delivering max power of 138 BHP @ 4000 RPM and peak torque of 320 Nm @ 1700 to 2700 RPM. These figures are good enough and now the price is even more inviting. So we can hope to see an increase in sales in the month of December.
