Reports confirm that Tata is indeed readying the Altroz with the 1.2 Litre turbo-petrol unit mated either to a 5-speed MT or a Dual-Clutch Transmission.
Tata Altroz has just been unveiled in India, ahead of the launch and price announcement in January 2020. The premium hatchback rivals the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo.
The Altroz comes with BS-6 compliant petrol and diesel engines, as a first from Tata. It uses a 1.2 Litre three-cylinder petrol engine delivering 86 BHP and 113 Nm of peak torque. The 1.5 Litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 90 BHP and 170 Nm of peak torque.
That’s not it. Tata Altroz will also get a turbo-petrol engine but by the festive season 2020. With the new turbo-petrol engine, Tata Altroz is likely to get a 5-speed manual gearbox with the option of a DCT. The engine will produce 102 BHP and 140 Nm of peak torque.

Seeing a similar scene with the Tiago, we are expecting Tata to name it the Altroz JTP. Similarly, the Tata Altroz turbo-petrol will also get some revision to the suspension setup. It will soon go into production once Tata launches the Altroz.
The performance-oriented Altroz could get a different interior design with black leather upholstery and all-black dashboard. On the exterior, we can see the slightly tweaked front and rear bumpers with different alloy wheel design.
As said earlier, the Altroz has been unveiled in India. The hatchback gets features such as 7-inch floating touchscreen infotainment, fully digital speedometer, front and rear armrest, cruise control, rear AC vents, height-adjustable driver seat, projector headlamps and much more.
