Tata Altroz sits on ALFA platform and follows the Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy!
Tata Motors will make their entry into the premium hatchback segment with the Altroz and bookings for the same are going to open soon. There have been rumors that bookings for the Altroz have already commenced but Tata Motors have denied all such rumors as it still hasn’t officially announced about the bookings commencing.
In addition to the Tata Altroz bookings, the video also showcases a floating touchscreen infotainment system and the instrument cluster. It follows the same dashboard design as seen at the Geneva Motor Show.
One interesting thing observed is the availability of ambient lighting. The diffused green light mainly focuses on the centre console and if you look closely, the touchscreen offers the option of ambient lighting. However, it is not sure if the colours of the ambient lighting can be changed. Mind you, no other car in this segment provides the option of ambient lighting.

The leaked teaser also shows a MID in the instrument console, analogue speedometer, digital tachometer and some sort of AI integrated with Google Assistant and a multi-function steering wheel comprising of cruise controls other than the basic volume controls.
Tata Altroz will carry the same design structure as shown in the concept car. It gets a wider grille upfront with dual-barrel headlamps for better illumination. The door handles will be integrated into the C-pillar and will be blacked out to give a sporty look. Coming to the rear profile, it gets a unique two-part boot lid. The car sits on single tone 16-inch alloy wheels.
Not much is known about the powertrain from the teaser but we expect it to come with three engine options. A 1.2L petrol motor from Tiago which produces 84 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque, a turbo petrol motor from the Nexon churning out 104 bhp with 142 Nm of torque.
The diesel engine will be the same 1.5L unit from Nexon but the power figure will be detuned and is likely to make 90 bhp. Tata will launch manual transmission first followed by the automatic ones.

Safety features like ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system and seat belt reminder will be made standard across all variants. The top-end trims could see the addition of more airbags but that will incur to expensive cost.
Once launched, Tata Altroz will compete with the likes of Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Toyota Glanza and Volkswagen Polo. It is expected to carry a price tag of Rs 5 lakh to 8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
