Altroz, the forthcoming hatchback from Tata has been spotted testing on the Leh-Manali highway alongside its competition, Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
Tata Altroz spied testing on Kullu Manali Highway ahead of its launch in June 2019. Maruti Baleno can be seen in between the heavily camouflaged Tata cars which are on their way up. This may be a high altitude and cold weather test for Tata Altroz.
Tata Altroz, when launched, will be the most expensive hatchback from Tata’s lineup which will compete against the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo, Hyundai Elite i20 and Honda Jazz. Tata Altroz was first showcased at the 2019 Geneva motor show and will be launched in India by June 19′.
Tata Altroz is based on the ALFA (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) architecture with the design inspired on Impact 2.0 Design Philosophy. The exteriors of the Altroz boasts a split headlight design along with a sleek grille which makes the car give a sharp look. LED DRL’s, foglights will also house on the Altroz.

According to the speculations, Altroz will feature a large touchscreen in its segment which will offer usual connectivity features. Furthermore, there will be a T-shaped centre console followed by a digital analogue instrument cluster and a flat bottom steering wheel.
Safety features like ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors and ISOFIX child mount seats will be made available according to the standard of India.
The Altroz will be made available in three engine options, two petrol and one diesel. Petrol motor will be powered by the same 1.2L naturally aspirated motor which powers Tata Tiago and will churn out 84bhp with 113Nm of torque.
The 1.5L turbocharged diesel engine will be the same from Nexon but will be detuned for higher fuel efficiency and compatible with a 5-speed gearbox. The other petrol engine will be a 1.2L, 3 cylinder turbo petrol engine as same of the Tata Nexon designed to churn out 108bhp of power with a peak torque of 175Nm.
We expect the hatchback to be priced from Rs 6 Lakhs going up to Rs 9 Lakhs (ex-showroom).
