The Tata Altroz is based on the all-new Alpha platform, is expected to be priced in-between INR 5 lakh to INR 8 lakh, will compete against Maruti Baleno & Hyundai i20.
Tata Motors has recently revealed the name of its upcoming premium hatchback. The 45X concept based vehicle has been christened as the Altroz. The name takes its inspiration from Albatroz, the seabird. The homegrown automaker has confirmed that it is going to launch the Altroz in our country by mid-2019. When launched, this premium hatchback is expected to be priced in-between INR 5 lakh to INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Altroz is based on the automaker’s all-new Alpha architecture which will be used for all its future products measuring under 4-meters in length. The car is yet to be revealed officially and the same will be done at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show in March this year. The Altroz is based on the 45X concept which made its first public debut at the 2018 auto Expo.

In terms of its design, its is based on the automaker’s IMPACT 2.0 design langauge, the same as that of the Harrier. Going by the numerous spy shots of the Altroz’s test-mule circulating on the internet, we can somewhat see that this hatchback comes with a sleek exterior design which is reminicent of the 45X concept, as promised.
The interiors of the Tata Altroz are expected to be premium in nature. In terms of its features, this premium hatchback will be loaded up to the brim. It is likely to get projector headlamps, LED daytime running lights, a touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple Car Play, leather-wrapped steering wheel, rear air-con vents to name a few.

The engine specifications of the Tata Altroz are still under the wraps. However, we expect the automaker to use the same 1.2-litre petrol engine as seen on the Tiago. While the diesel engine is likely to be a 1.5-litre unit borrowed from the Nexon. The transmission options will include manual as well as automatic transmission option.
