Tata Altroz will be a premium hatchback once launched. It will compete against Baleno, Glanza, Elite i20 and Polo.
Tata Altroz is a much awaited car by Tata and we have showed you several spy shots and videos of the upcoming mid-size hatchback. Tata Altroz is based on ALFA platform and will follow the impact 2.0 design structure which we already have seen on the Tata Harrier.
This new platform facilitates the Altroz with segment leading and a flat floor at the rear which provides enough legroom for the passengers sitting at the rear seat. ALFA platform is also configured to assemble electric as well as hybrid vehicles.
Tata Altroz Exterior
As told, Tata Altroz follows impact 2.0 design philosophy which allows the car to give an aggressive look. The split design headlamp will follow the lead just like the Harrier. It will get projector headlamps and LED DRL’s with LED taillamps. The taillamps have been blacked out to give it a more sporty look. Moving to the side, the rear handle is hidden and blacked out to give it a clean look. The car sits on 16-inch alloy wheels.

Interiors
The cabin of the Altroz is cockpit inspired and makes it pleasing once you step inside. Quality of products used inside is plush and the soft leather door pads make it look a class but are unlikely to make it to the production model. It gets a flat bottom steering wheel and the front seat gets headrest. The rear seats get dedicated air-con vents along with an armrest.
Features
There is ‘free-standing’ 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the dashboard which supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. A multi-functional steering wheel with semi-digital instrument console is on the list. We can also expect an 8-speaker Harman Kardon surround sound system which gives a true life-to-acoustic sound experience.

Engine
Tata Altroz will come in 3-engine options, 2 petrol engine and 1 diesel engine. The 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine will be shared from Nexon but will be de-tuned and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. The 85bhp, 1.2-litre petrol from Tiago will make its way in. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol motor from Nexon which will be tuned down to make 102bhp with 140Nm of peak torque.
Prices
Tata Altroz prices have not been officially announced yet but will be similarly priced to its rivals. Once launched Tata Altroz will compete with the likes of Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Baleno, Toyota Glanza, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. We expect the prices to be between Rs 5.7 lakh to Rs 8.8 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
