The all-new premium hatchback, the Tata 45X has been spied testing in India in an almost production ready avatar. The official launch date for this premium hatchback from Tata Motors is still under the wraps.
However, judging by the fact that the project now seems to be in its final stages of development, we can expect the same to take place sometime during the first half of 2019.
In its concept iteration, the 45X made its debut at the 2018 Auto Expo.
Being a premium hatchback it will compete against the likes of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai i20. Prices are expected to fall in-between the range of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 8.5 lakh.
The spy photos suggest that the production model will get a similar bodywork as the concept model showcased. It gets a raked roofline falling towards the rear end of the car. To some, it could look like a bigger version of the Tiago.

Also seen are the chunky 5-spoke alloy wheels that fit perfectly with the big wheel arches. It seems that the Tata 45X will get wraparound taillights, flowing towards the side portion of the hatchback.
It gets the C-Pillar rear door handle, seen of the Chevy Beat and the new Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Last, when we spotted the Tata 45X, we got some details of the interiors of the hatchback. It gets a floating touchscreen infotainment system and also continues with Tata’s trademark, T-shaped centre console. Moreover, it will borrow most of the cabin detailing cues from the Nexon.
It was also spotted testing on the Kari Motor Speedway in Tamil Nadu. Probably the hatchback was testing for fine tuning of suspension and steering.

The 45X will be a premium hatchback and will get many premium features, similar to the Nexon. Also, it is reportedly going to come with personalization and accessories options like the Nexon.
We can expect features such as projector headlamps along with LED DRLs and LED tail lights. For entertainment, it will get a floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car Play, Smart Key, Push Button Start, Wearable Key, Auto Climate Control and more.
The hatchback will borrow Nexon’s engine, too. It will get the 1.2 Litre Revotron turbo petrol engine and the 1.5 Litre Revotorq turbo diesel. The petrol engine produces around 110 BHP of power and 170 Nm of torque. The diesel variant gives around 110 BHP of power and 260 Nm of torque. On offer, would be a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed Automatic Transmission.

We expect the prices to be between Rs 5.5 Lakhs up to Rs 9 Lakhs, for a much stiffer competition. The Baleno and i20 also come at a similar price range.
