Reports say that the upcoming Tata 45X hatchback might get an optional mild-hybrid petrol engine at the time of the launch. The premium hatchback will launch by mid – 2019.
Tata Motors is all in the news for teasing its upcoming Harrier SUV. The Jeep Compass competitor is all set to launch in January 2019. Well, in 2019, its another launch is also scheduled to happen. The Tata 45X is going to be launched by mid-2019. It has been spied a couple of times and various information regarding the hatchback is already out. The latest information says that 45X might get a mild-hybrid petrol engine as an option. With this, it will be the first in its segment to sport one. Read more about the 45X here.
Team-BHP member RavenAvi suggests that 45X will use BS-VI compliant 1.2 Litre Revotron petrol engine, with some increase in the power. With the petrol variant, a 48-volt electric motor will be on offer. This motor will assist in the acceleration. During heavy acceleration, the electric motor as well as engine assist in delivering the power.

The electric motor in Tata 45X could also feature an idle start-stop system. With the electric motor in hand, 45X could register for lower CO2 emissions. Reports say that Tata Motors European Technical centre is developing the mild-hybrid engines.
If the mild-hybrid system comes in Tata 45X, it could later come in Nexon as well. The hatchback will arrive in a time period where most of the automobile brands will be readying their models with BS-VI engines. Even its flagship SUV, Harrier is rumoured to have a mild-hybrid petrol engine sometime after its launch.

Upcoming Tata 45X might also use Nexon’s 1.2 Litre Revotron turbo petrol and 1.5 Litre Revotorq diesel. The petrol engine puts out 110 BHP and 170 Nm. The diesel one gives 110 BHP and 208 Nm of peak torque. For transmission, it will use a manual gearbox with an optional AMT gearbox.
Expect the upcoming 45X to be one of the most premium hatchbacks. It will get LED headlamps, LED DRLs, and LED tail lamps on the exterior. Inside the cabin, it will get a touchscreen infotainment bigger than Nexon, smart wearable key, push-button start, rear AC vents and cooled glove box.
Safety features onboard would include dual front airbags with ABS and EBD as standard fitment. The top-end ones will get rear parking sensors with a rearview camera, more airbags and some its and bits.

Since it is going to come in the price range of Maruti Baleno and Hyundai Elite i20, we expect it start off at Rs 5.5 Lakhs, going up to Rs 9 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices).
