Tata 45X based hatchback will be based on the automaker’s ALPHA architecture and will be slotted above the Tiago to compete against Maruti Suzuki Baleno.
With the launch of the Harrier done and dusted, the next-highly anticipated launch from the homegrown automaker is of the 45X based hatchback. Showcased first at the 2018 Auto Expo, were numerous speculations regarding the launch of this vehicle in India. However, speaking to the media at the launch of the Harrier, senior management has confirmed that the 45X based premium hatchback is going to launch in India within the next six month or so.

This roughly puts the launch date of the 45X hatchback round the festive season this year. The Tata 45X will be the automaker’s first car to be based on its ALPHA architecture. Going by the numerous spy shots of this vehicle circulating on the internet, it seems that the final production iteration will indeed, like the Harrier, resemble its concept.
The Tata 45X based hatchback comes with large wraparound headlamps with projector units. The tail-lamps too feature and elongated look and seems to take their inspiration from the one seen on the Harrier. Inside, just like its SUV sibling, this hatchback is going to get a semi-digital instrument cluster along with a floating-touchscreen system.

The engine specifications of the Tata 45X based hatchback will include both petrol as well as diesel derivatives. The petrol derivative is going to eb the Tiago’s 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine capable of churning out 84 BHP of power along with 114 Nm of peak torque. While the diesel engine is likely to be Tata’s 1.05-litre unit which is good for 69 BHP along with 140 Nm of peak torque.
Transmission responsibilities will be handled by a 5-speed manual gearbox. There could be an automatic gearbox on offer as well.

Recently, Tata Motors has been offering quite aggressive prices for its vehicles. Similarly, we expect the Tata 45X based hatchback to fall in the price bracket of INR 5 lakh to INR 8 lakh (ex-showroom).
