Suzuki has run into a technical problem with its crossover Suzuki SX4 and SUV Grand Vitara sold in the USA markets. Suzuki has discovered a problem with the timing chain pulley in the engine of these cars. This pulley is reported to have malfunctioned in Grand Vitara SUVs sold between 2009 to 2011 and SX4 sold between 2010 and 2011. The malfunction of this pulley causes the power steering to fail, making it really hard to turn and in some cases, the engine stalls.
Under this recall of about 32000 cars in USA, the Suzuki dealers will replace the timing chain pulley with a new pulley free of cost. The new pulley installed does not have these problems. Indian versions of these cars by Maruti Suzuki, Maruti SX4 and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara are not affected by the above mentioned problems.
