In order to woo the attendees at the upcoming Tokyo Auto Salon, Suzuki has decided to showcase two quite astonishing concepts of the Jimny. Called as the ‘Survivor’ and the ‘Pick-up style’ these, so far, remain just concepts with Suzuki revealing no plans to ever put them in production.

The Suzuki Jimny ‘Survivor’ concepts adorn a dark matt grey colour scheme in sync with its hardcore off-road personality. Suzuki says that they have designed this concept while keeping in mind its capability to handle ‘extreme conditions’. For this, it comes with metal plates on all four corners, chunky off-road tyres, exterior roll-cage along with a detachable metal track on the roof.

The Suzuki Jimny ‘Pick-up Style’ concept comes with a rather in-your-face gold colour scheme with a contrasting white roof. Up-front, it comes with an all-new mesh-styled grille which is quite different from the multi-slat one seen on the standard Jimny. In addition to this, the ‘Pick-up Style’ also features a single cabin layout while there are floodlights mounted on the roof. The ORVMS are also unique to this concept and feature coloured in black. It is quite evident that the ride height of the concept is significantly higher than the standard iteration of this vehicle.
Details related to the ‘Survivor’ and ‘Pick-up style’ concept’s interiors as well as its technical specifications will be revealed at the auto show during its first public reveal.

In its standard guise, the Suzuki Jimny, in Japan comes with two engine configurations. One is the 600cc motor while the other the other one comes with a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The ‘Survivor’ and the ‘Pick-up Style’ concepts are based on the later.
The Suzuki Jimny, due to its unique boxy design and off-road capabilities along with a budget price-tag is performing quite well for the Japanese automaker in international markets. With the discontinuation of the Maruti Gypsy in India, there were speculations that it might be replaced by the Jimny in the near future. However, Maruti Suzuki senior management does not find the Jimny a viable product for India.
