This has to be the first-ever Maruti Suzuki Jimny with the body kit of the retro Mercedes G-Wagon. Owners of the Jimny worldwide often draw parallels between their SUVs and the iconic G-Wagon. Despite their notably different price points, there are some resemblances in appearance between the two. To begin with, the Jimny stands out as an affordable, robust, and lightweight off-road SUV. With a history spanning over five decades in the global market, it has now made its entry into the Indian market in its fourth generation, featuring an innovative 5-door design—a first for this model. On the other hand, the G-Wagon is renowned as one of the finest luxury off-road vehicles globally. Here are the details of this custom Jimny.

These images come from powerdrift on Instagram. They represent a rather unique visual. While I have reported many instances of Jimny owners converting their SUVs into G-Wagons in the aftermarket, this has to be the first case of converting the Jimny into the retro version of the G-Wagon. This is not just the last-gen model but the one from decades ago. At the front, it bears those round headlamps with a protection cage, an old body-coloured grille, turn indicators on the extreme edges of the bonnet with a protection grille, and a rugged bumper with a sturdy skid plate element to protect the underbelly from scratches. There is also an additional light just below the main headlamp cluster.

Furthermore, the side profile is devoid of any characteristic creases or curves. There is a two-door configuration, the wheel arches don’t wear any claddings, there is a solid roof carrier for luggage, tall heavy-duty ORVMs just like on buses and trucks, a boxy silhouette and steel wheels which are painted white. At the rear, the SUV comes with a spare wheel mounted on the tail lid, the company taillamps are positioned on the bumper horizontally, the tailgate opens sideways and the tough bumper completes the exterior styling. This iteration provides a fresh perspective of the new Jimny.
