Suzuki is a popular global manufacturer and most of its models are sold in various markets but with different names and badges. The best example is the Maruti A-Star, which in other markets is sold as Suzuki Alto. This is not known to many but the Japanese Alto a.k.a Indian A-star is sold in the middle east as Suzuki Celerio and as Nissan Pixo in UK.
After years of dedication these small cars have become quite popular over the globe and interestingly Suzuki has recently launched a new restyled version of A-star in Japan under the name Alto Eco. There is no official information on whether Maruti Suzuki will even consider bringing this fuel economic engine to India in its current lineup of cars in India. If it does, it will make a lot of practical sense because of ever rising petrol prices in India. But we can only wait and hope to see such high mileage cars making it to Indian roads to reduce burden on both pockets of car buyers as well as environment.

The best part about Alto Eco is its frugal engine that delivers a very impressive 32 km/l of mileage. The 660 cc heart produces a max power of 52 BHP @ 6000 RPM and peak torque of 63 Nm @ 4000 RPM.
Unfortunately this economical car is not going to come to India anytime soon since Maruti Suzuki is currently working on M800, a tough competitor for Hyundai Eon and has no plans to enter the sub-800 cc category.
