Ford to Pay Rs 42 lakh for Delivering Defective Car
This video comes from Prateek Singh on YouTube. It explains a bizarre case. As per the information in the video, a Ford Endeavour owner purchased the SUV with the 3.2-litre engine a few years ago. However, he faced issues pertaining to the engine from the very beginning. He mentioned that there was oil leakage from the engine. After visiting the Service Centre, it was discovered that the engine needed replacement. Unfortunately, the dealership did not cooperate which is why the owner had to approach the Consumer Commission. As a result, Ford was ordered to replace the engine and pay Rs 2000 per day as compensation to the owner.

After this ordeal, the court asked Ford to pay Rs 42 lakh in compensation in addition to Rs 87,000 as an insurance premium. By this time, the American auto giant had already paid Rs 6 lakh as per the previous verdict. Now the remaining Rs 36.87 lakh will have to be paid to the owner. What We Think
This is certainly not the first time a carmaker has had to pay a fine for delivering a defective car to the owner. The only issue with such cases is the fact that car owners have to remain involved in legal battles for years. For reference, Ford used to sell the endeavour with this 3.2-litre engine years ago. This shows that this case has been going on for a long time. We are just glad that the owner was able to get justice in the end. Also, we hope that carmakers don’t make their customers go through such hardships and offer an appropriate solution in the very beginning.
