In a shocking incident, a speeding BMW kills an 18-year-old biker in Mohali. Reportedly, the biker was out with 2 other friends to buy a birthday cake for their friend. Indian roads are, unfortunately, full of idiots who flout traffic regulations on a daily basis. Rash driving continues to be one of the biggest reasons for road accidents leading to deaths in our country. I am sure you must be aware of the recent case in Pune where a rich drunk teenager killed two persons with his Porsche Taycan car. We have yet another such case on our hands.
Speeding BMW Kills Young Biker
We get the visuals of this horrific incident from Republic on X. The video captures the crashed BMW SUV and bike on Zirakpur Patiala Highway at around 11:15 PM. As per the news reports, the BMW hit the bike from the rear at high speed which resulted in the biker getting stuck between the BMW and a parked truck on the road. The result was horrendously severe. The locals helped the Police to take the injured to the nearby hospital. However, they referred to them to GMCH Chandigarh, Sector 32. That is where one person was declared dead. The driver of the BMW fled the scene.
The victim was identified as Sahib while his friends Sumit and Rajveer Singh were residents of Pabhat village. The latter two are undergoing treatment and the victim’s family blocked the Patiala Highway in protest. They want the driver of the BMW to be arrested and punished for his actions. The Police have charged him under Sections 279, 304-A, 337 and 338 of the Indian Penal Code at the Zirakpur Police Station. I am expecting the authorities to bring the accused under custody soon.
Our View
Unfortunately, I have reported innumerable instances of overspeeding leading to accidents. People don’t regard traffic regulations and end up getting involved in fatal circumstances. The only disappointing aspect is that they often cause injury or worse, to other unsuspecting road users who would otherwise have had nothing to do with such situations. I hope that the Police are able to catch the culprit and punish him/her according to the law so that others don’t repeat such horrendous acts.
