The police have charged Taksheel Mehta under IPC section 279 for rash and negligent driving, along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicle Act. One of the immediate actions taken by the authorities was the seizure of the Lamborghini Huracan. The car is now in the custody of the police, pending further investigation into the incident. According to the initial police report, the incident took place at approximately 7:30 a.m. on a clear Saturday morning. Taksheel Mehta, who resides in Juhu, was driving the Lamborghini to college when the accident occurred. While speeding along the Sealink, the car collided with the railing, causing significant damage to the vehicle.
Meanwhile, Taksheel Mehta escaped with minor injuries, suffering only a few scratches and minor burns from the car’s airbag. After being promptly attended to, he was taken to Poddar Hospital, where he received medical treatment and was later discharged. The police is investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident. One of their primary focuses is to determine whether Taksheel Mehta was driving the vehicle at speeds exceeding the legal limit on the Sealink. To aid in their investigation, they plan to review CCTV footage from the area.

Not Driving Under Influence
Notably, Taksheel Mehta’s blood test showed no signs of alcohol consumption, ruling out one potential factor in the accident. Narendra Mehta, a prominent businessman-turned-politician, had gifted the Rs 5.5 crore Lamborghini Huracan to his wife, Suman, on her birthday back in 2016. Interestingly, the car had been involved in a previous accident when Suman Mehta lost control and hit a stationary autorickshaw.
This incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of responsible and cautious driving, especially when using such supercars. It also highlights the need for strict adherence to speed limits and traffic regulations, even on well-paved and wide road like that on the Bandra-Worli Sealink. More details about the incident are expected to emerge soon.
