Sledgehammer Test To See If Costlier Helmets Protect You Better?
The popular YouTuber took 4 helmets that cost Rs 200, Rs 250, Rs 700 and Rs 800 respectively. The first two are what you typically call cheap helmets without the ISI mark and the other two are branded with the ISI mark and hence, cost more. He takes a heavy sledgehammer and starts beating down the helmets. He decides to hit the helmets one time because that is generally what happens in real-life situations too. The first one to get hit is the cheapest one of the lot which breaks into pieces instantly. It offers negligible protection to the head.

A similar fate awaited the second helmet too. Both these cheap helmets couldn’t stand the force and broke immediately upon the impact. Then came the turn of the more expensive helmets with the ISI mark. Surprisingly, both of them sustained multiple blows from the heavy hammer before showing cracks. This is a testament to the strength of these helmets. The YouTuber had to hit the helmets again and again to cause significant damage. This is how well-protected your head will be in these helmets.
