Skoda Superb Ambition Launched In India Officially at Rs. 18 Lakhs (click here for more details).
With more and more car models being added to the market, the price consciousness among the buyers is also rising. Manufacturers are doing every possible bit to bring down the prices of their respective products to attract more customers.
Skoda is a well known firm and is very keen on extracting more sales out of the market. The most obvious step taken by the brand recently was the launch of its very first inexpensive sedan Skoda Rapid, as compared to Skoda Superb and Skoda Laura which are quite expensive. Another interesting step that Skoda took was to introduce a low cost variant in Skoda Fabia’s line-up.

Interestingly Skoda is planning to follow a similar strategy for Superb and will introduce a low cost Ambition variant of the same. This entry level variant will be available with the choice of two engine options: a 1.8 litre turbocharged petrol that develops 160 BHP of max power and 250 Nm of torque and a 2.0 litre TDI turbo diesel that develops 140 BHP of power and 320 Nm of torque.
Ambition variant will come with both 6 speed manual and 6 speed dual clutch automatic transmissions which is great but at the same time the manufacturer will deprive this very variant of many features. The features which will not make it to Superb Ambition are Electric Sunroof, Bi-Xenon cornering headlamps, touchscreen system on the center console, Bluetooth function, ESP, Hill Hold and Hill Descent.
The maker is also testing a facelifted 2012 version of the Superb which has been caught a number of times but was heavily camouflaged. It is rumored that the 2012 model will feature some cosmetic changes on the front as well as the rear. The Ambition model is expected to be priced at Rs. 18 Lakhs ex-showroom which will make it approx. Rs. 20 Lakhs on road.
We really can’t wait to see the 2012 model that too in a cheaper Ambition avatar. So stay tuned for more updates on the same.
