The ongoing chip shortage has hit the fast-selling Skoda Slavia. The popular sedan is likely to lose some features.
Skoda Slavia has been quite popular among Indian customers. Since its launch, the sedan has received more than 10000 bookings. However, it is now facing the ongoing chip shortage. As a result, the new customers will lose out on some features like the wireless smartphone charging, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system (Ambition variant onwards), wireless Android Auto/ Apple Carplay, and more. Additionally, the company is expected to hike the price of the Skoda Slavia (by around Rs 50,000). Let’s take a closer look!

The semiconductor chip shortage has been quite harsh for the automobile industry. Along with revenue, a lot of brands have struggled to keep their market share. Additionally, customers also had to face high prices, long delivery times, and delayed vehicle launches. The auto industry has more access to semiconductor chips in 2022. However, it is still a problem for popular models. The auto manufacturers still cannot build as many vehicles as they want without compromise. This shortage is expected to last into 2023 or longer.
The Skoda Slavia is powered by a turbocharged 1.0 liter 3 cylinder TSI engine that produces 115hp and 175 Nm of torque. It is paired with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmission. A turbocharged 1.5 liter 4 cylinder TSI engine offers 150hp and 250 Nm of torque. It comes with a 6-speed manual or 7-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. The popular sedan features a typical Skoda face with a butterfly grille on the front. It is paired with L-shaped LED units and halogen fog lamps. The rear panel features a notchback design on the back. The LED taillamps come with crystalline detail.

You also get 16-inch dual-tone alloy wheels and a boot space of 521 liters. Additional features include automatic climate control, auto headlamps, auto wipers, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, auto-folding mirrors, ventilated seats, electric sunroof, cruise control, reverse parking camera, wireless charging, and keyless entry with push-button start. On the inside, the company has provided a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system which will be replaced by an 8-inch unit. It also comes with wireless android auto and apple car play.
