When buying any new car, the question of choosing between the trims is always a tricky one. We aim to objectively look at the goodies you get on top and second-from-top trims of the Skoda Slavia.
The price of Skoda Slavia Ambition MT is Rs 12.69 lakh, while the Style MT costs Rs 14.39 lakh, ex-showroom. The price difference of around Rs 2 lakh (On-road) is rather large. Hence, it makes sense to take cognizance of the situation and concretely establish what are the additional features/accessories offered in the top trim and whether or not they are worth paying the extra.

Skoda Slavia Ambition vs Style – Exterior
The differences on the outside are rather limited. On the Style variant, you get an LED projector headlight setup with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs that lend a premium and modern look to the front end of the sedan. It represents Skoda’s trademark crystalline design pattern. On the other hand, the Ambition trim comes with a halogen headlight setup with rather basic LED DRLs. Apart from that, the side profile of the Style trim boasts dual-tone machine alloy wheels that look elegant compared to the regular alloy wheels in the Ambition trim. Note that both variants have the same 16-inch wheels with a similar tyre profile.

Also, the window line has a chrome belt running underneath which is exclusive for the top trim. At the rear, there is not much of a difference either. To match the expectations from the top model, Skoda offers a chrome strip that runs across the width of the rear bumper which is missing on the Ambition trim. Lastly, if you opt for the Style trim, you will get an electric sunroof which is not on offer on the Ambition model. However, you could also get the Style trim without the sunroof which costs Rs 40,000 less.

Interior
On the inside, the immediate feature you notice when you sit in the driver’s seat is the massive digital instrument cluster on the top Style trim compared to the regular one in the Ambition trim. It relays all the information with crisp graphics. In addition to that, you also get Wireless Smartphone charging in the top trim and a premium Skoda audio system. Finally, the front seats in the top trim are ventilated which makes all the difference in the harsh sun which is a phenomenon in most of India. In the Ambition variant, you get regular fabric seats.

Verdict
It all comes down to how much money you are willing to spend. If you are on a relatively tight budget but want to experience the peppy 1.0-litre TSI engine of the Slavia, then you have all the basics covered even in the Ambition trim. You could save around Rs 2 lakh, on-road. On the other hand, if you value creature comforts too much and your budget is flexible, then going for the top trim makes sense. Then you could argue that the price difference between the Ambition and Style trims of the Skoda Slavia is worth it.
