Skoda has cancelled the launch of Rapid CNG in India. As Zac Hollis is an active Twitter user, he replied to a question from a Skoda customer. The customer was inquiring about the details of the Skoda Rapid CNG. Zac had answered another person on Twitter earlier regarding evaluating the possibility of introducing a CNG version of the Rapid. This was at the beginning of this quarter when the fuel prices were beginning to go skywards. Skoda was testing the CNG version of its popular sedan. However, in this latest Twitter exchange, he had made it clear that the Rapid CNG will not see the light of day. This is disappointing for some fans and they have displayed their emotions on Twitter.

Skoda Rapid CNG Launch Cancelled
The Rapid is one of the most popular sedans for the Czech carmaker in India. As a matter of fact, it is the only product that drives the most sales for Skoda in India. After the petrol prices crossed the Rs 100 per litre mark, many people started looking for alternate fuel-powered options. Maruti saw a substantial rise in sales in its CNG lineup. Hyundai also has a few CNG models in its fleet. Tata is also planning to introduce the CNG version of Tiago to rival the likes of Maruti Wagon R and Hyundai Santro. The general trend of the industry is shifting towards alternate fuel-powered cars. Therefore, it made sense to introduce the Rapid in the CNG guise. But the plans have somehow not worked.

The sedan is expected to arrive before the end of 2021. With products like the Kushaq and the new Rapid, Skoda is starting to shape its second innings quite well. It is pinning all its hopes on the mid-size SUV which has seen a great response from the customers during the first month of sales. Reportedly, Skoda has received close to 6,000 bookings already for the Kushaq.
