Skoda has finally launched the Octavia VRS in India for a price of Rs 36 lakhs and it comes powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine which puts out 245 bhp.
Skoda has launched the much awaited Octavia VRS in India at the 2020 Auto Expo for a price of Rs. 36 lakhs (ex-showroom). Skoda introduced the Octavia VRS in India for the first time back in 2017 and it was an instant hit. However, it was only brought in limited numbers are was quickly sold out. Ever since, enthusiasts have been awaiting the return of the Octavia VRS and now, its finally here.
The Skoda Octavia VRS is powered by a 2.0-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine, which now puts out 245hp and 370Nm of torque (15hp and 20Nm more than before). The engine comes paired to a 7-speed DSG gearbox and the car can sprint from 0-100 kph in just 6.6 seconds. The previous car did it in 6.8 seconds. The top-speed remains identical at 250 kph.
The new car also gets an updated suspension setup and there are visual differences in the form of larger 18-inch alloy wheels and a body kit which gives the VRS a distinctive sporty character. There are also some blacked-out elements on the exteriors, LED headlights, tail-lamps, fog lamps and daytime running lights (DRLs), steel exhaust tips and a boot spoiler.

Another thing to note is that Skoda has brought the current-gen, Euro-spec Octavia VRS. The newer Octavia VRS is more powerful than the previous iteration of the Octavia VRS that was sold in India. It also sits lower and has lesser ground clearance than the previous car. The new Octavia VRS still prioritizes its sporty driving dynamics.

Even with the new Octavia VRS, Skoda has not been generous in terms of numbers. Skoda has just allotted 200 units of the VRS for India and it will come to India via the CBU route. It will soon get sold out just like its predecessor and so you might want to hurry. The Skoda Octavia VRS has a price that is quite steep at Rs 36 lakhs, but given the fact that its a CBU and more importantly, given its true potential, we believe it will be truly worth every penny you pay for it.
