Kylaq is the only sub-4m SUV on sale by Skoda in our market currently
In this post, we are comparing the Skoda Kylaq Signature and the Signature Plus trims on the basis of price, features, exterior, etc. Kylaq is a new entrant in the mighty competitive compact SUV category in India. The list of rivals is rather extensive including the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV3XO and more. Hence, it is not easy to create a niche since the customers already have their preferences for a long time. Still, this segment is expanding which is why Skoda decided to launch the Kylaq to grab some market share of this growing space. Oftentimes, people struggle to find the right variant for their needs. Hence, we are comparing the mid-trims of the Kylaq in this post which are often regarded as the most value for money.
Skoda Kylaq Signature vs Signature Plus – Price
While buying any new car, the price of the variants is the most critical factor which affects the choice of the buyer. As per their budget, they select the trim. Since we are not considering the base and top models in this case, the two mid-level trims could most likely be the most popular. The second-from-base Signature version retails for Rs 9.59 lakh for the manual and Rs 10.59 lakh for the automatic, while the higher Signature Plus starts at Rs 11.40 lakh for the manual and goes up to Rs 12.40 lakh for the automatic. Note that all these prices are ex-showroom. Hence, there is a clear difference of Rs 1.81 lakh between the two ranges and Rs 1 lakh between manual and automatic in each trim. In this post, our aim is to decide whether or not the difference of Rs 1.81 lakh is worth going for the higher model or not.
Price | Skoda Kylaq Signature | Skoda Kylaq Signature Plus |
Manual | Rs 9.59 lakh | Rs 11.40 lakh |
Automatic | Rs 10.59 lakh | Rs 12.40 lakh |
Skoda Kylaq Signature vs Signature Plus – Exterior
As we know, there are often some giveaway elements on the exterior of various trims of every car. The higher variants often come with more bling and some aesthetic components in comparison to lower versions. In any case, we get clear visuals of the two models parked side by side courtesy of this video by Fuel Injected on YouTube. At the front, there are no major differences since both these get glossy black front grille with 3D ribs, a sporty bumper, LED headlamps, a rugged skid plate and sleek LED DRLs on the edge of the bumper. Hence, one could barely tell them apart looking from the front. However, things are not the same on the sides.
The side section contains chrome finished door handles on the Signature Plus trim along with electrically adjustable ORVMs while it is not the case with the Signature model. However, both these variants get similar 16-inch alloy wheels, rugged wheel arches with matte black cladding and faux roof rails to complete the side profile. At the rear, the Signature Plus offers a reverse parking camera which is missing in the lower model. Also, the former boasts a shark fin antenna, while the Signature gets a regular antenna. All the other bits at the rear like LED taillamps, sporty bumper and skid plate are identical. Therefore, it is quite a task to set the two apart from the outside.

Specs
This is one area where the two models are identical. In fact, the Skoda Kylaq is available with a single engine for the entire lineup. Also, apart from the base trim, every other variant can be had with a manual or an automatic transmission. I must mention that the Kylaq borrows the engine and transmission from its larger sibling, the Kushaq. This means a 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI turbo petrol mill that produces a healthy 115 PS and 178 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. One can choose between either a 6-speed manual or a torque converter automatic transmission. Skoda claims an ARAI-certified mileage of 19.68 km/l with the manual which is quite decent. Also, the acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h comes up in 10.5 seconds with a top speed of 188 km/h. Hence, buyers can opt for a particular version as per their requirements.

My View
Understandably, choosing between these two compelling variants of the Skoda Kylaq can be quite tricky. However, you are able to get a clear picture with regard to the accurate additions you get with the Signature Plus version over the Signature. Now, you will need to decide if these features are enough for you to shell out Rs 1.81 lakh more on the higher version. From the outside, the differences are minimal. Also, what lies under the hood is exactly the same. Therefore, you won’t feel any anomalies in the performance while driving either of these. Hence, if is a matter of pure premium quotient. In any case, I would suggest our readers visit their nearest Skoda dealership to experience the two trims in the flesh. That will help you make up your mind.
