In this day and age of fast internet connections and smartphones as powerful as a decent laptop, connected car technology is all the rage. The Hyundai Verna and the MG Hector became the first connected cars in the country and soon, many followed suit. Today, we have many cars that offer connected technology that lets the user access information on various aspects of cars through their smartphones. The Skoda Kushaq, one of the latest compact SUVs in India, offers this technology and using the MySkoda app, its users can keep a check on the vehicle status along with performing activities like geo-fencing.

Unfortunately, however, some Skoda Kushaq owners are reporting false alerts through this app. The case in the point today is this Kannur-based owner who has got a false ‘Being Towed’ notification not once but twice. Speaking on his experience, the owner reports, “Got the ‘Towed’ notification twice and the car actually is not towed. Any idea? Kushaq keeps adding surprises. They just assembled dongle with double side tape. They haven’t keep the bracket for dongle and it’s get deactivated when the car run faster.” Reacting to this, another owner commented, “Looks like they have used cheap labour to finish off pending works when there was a lockdown .Car dongle is literally hanging testing the strength of wires.”

From the looks of it, the reason for this issue is the Jio dongle the car comes with having a loose connection. The ill-fitting dongle is clearly leading to false notifications and therefore, inconvenience to the users. Launched earlier this year, the Skoda Kushaq has been marred by several issues, with the most major of it being the EPC error that many have faced. This error has left users stranded on the middle of the road as the car has refused to move on the development of this error.
In order to rectify the issue, Skoda Auto India has issued a recall in which it has changed the fuel pumps of the vehicles with a ‘more robust’ unit that is compatible with varying fuel quality. However, in spite of running on the improved fuel pump, some SUVs continue to face the infamous error. On the other hand, many Kushaq owners have even reported about rattling issues and misaligned fuel panels. All of the above has left most wondering if the carmaker lowered its quality standards for the development of its newest offering for India.
