The Skoda Kodiaq Scout is essentially an off-road biased variant of the Kodiaq and it sits between the Style and L&K variant in the Kodiaq lineup.
Skoda launched a new variant of the Kodiaq SUV in India yesterday which is called the Kodiaq Scout. The Kodiaq Scout is basically an off-road biased version of the regular Kodiaq and gets several modifications for the same. All this while, the Kodiaq was available in two variants – the base Style variant and the luxurious L&K variant. This new Scout version will sit between the other two variants. So here’s all you need to know about the new Skoda Kodiaq Scout.
Design Changes
Let’s start with the most obvious design changes first. Although the changes are subtle, it all adds to make considerable difference. The Scout gets silver skid plates on the front and rear bumpers. It also gets silver colored ORVMs, roof rails, and grille surrounds. There are new 18-inch wheels which get a dual-tone finish and there’s also the ‘Scout’ badging on the front fenders.
Off-road Enhancements
The Kodiaq Scout gets a dedicated off-road mode and it also comes with a more off-road-centric all-wheel drive system. The off-road mode adjusts the throttle and damping responses depending on the terrain. To keep things safe and secure over rough terrain, the Kodiaq Scout gets full underbody protection. The ground clearance remains unaltered from the standard Kodiaq. Its not a hardcore off-roader but it will get you out of tricky situation. It also comes with tyre pressure monitoring system.
Interior Design and Features
There are certain changes on the interiors as well. The Kodiaq Scout gets an all-black interior theme with Alcantara seat covers. While the standard Kodiaq gets a black wood trim on the dashboard and door panels, the Scout gets a brown toned wood panels. It also gets ‘Scout’ badgings on the seat back rests, the glove box and also as a greeti g message on the infotainment screen. Apart from these changes, the Kodiaq comes extremely well equipped with features like a digital instrument display, panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats, and ambient lighting.

Powertrain
The engine and gearbox option remain the same as in the other two variants for the Skoda Kodiaq Scout. It gets the same 2.0-litre, turbocharged, diesel engine which produces 148 bhp and 340 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes mated to a 7-speed DSG transmission and all-wheel drive comes as standard.

Price and Rivals
Skoda has priced the Kodiaq Scout at Rs. 33.99 lakhs, ex-showroom. It sits in between the Style and L&K variants of the Kodiaq. Its Rs. 1 lakh more expensive than the base variant but is about Rs. 2.5 lakhs cheaper than the top-spec L&K variant. At this price point and off-road biasness, the Skoda Kodiaq Scout competes against the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour.
