The upcoming Skoda Enyaq iV is the first electric SUV from the Czech carmaker. It has been spotted multiple times during road tests without any camouflage. Earlier this year, it was revealed that Volkswagen is likely to launch the ID 4, possibly in the GTX variant. What’s significant is that both the Enyaq and the ID 4 share the MEB platform. It appears that Skoda and VW are set to introduce an electric vehicle each, similar to their approach with the MQB-A0-IN-based cars. Upon launch, these cars will compete directly with models like the Kia EV6, Volvo XC40 Recharge and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Let us go through everything we know about the EV.

Skoda Enyaq iV – Expected Price and India Launch Date
The most common question a lot of people will have in mind is the price segment. While there have been no official announcements yet, we expect it to be in the same price range as the Kia EV6, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo XC40 Recharge. It will be offered as a CBU model. Therefore, a retail sticker of anywhere between Rs 55 lakh and Rs 65 lakh should be the case. Apart from that, the launch might take place around mid-2024. Going by the spy images, it looks like the production-spec model is almost ready.
Specifications – Battery, Range, Charging
In the international markets, the Skoda Enyaq comes with multiple powertrain options. This ensures that the buyers get to choose the appropriate specifications depending on their needs. However, since the Czech carmaker is bringing the Enyaq to our shores only in a CBU guise, it will most likely offer a single powertrain. Going by various reports online, it has to be the Enyaq iV 80x trim. Therefore, we can infer that the electric SUV could bear a 77 kWh battery pack with will power two electric motors.

This will lend all-wheel-drive capabilities with an electric motor on each axle. The total power output will be a decent 265 hp. In fact, it will propel the electric SUV from 0 to 100 km/h in just 6.9 secs. What’s more important is that it will boast a range of 513 km as per WLTP cycle. To juice up the battery pack, the buyers will get the option of a 125 kW DC fast charger in addition to the regular AC home charger. These stats put it almost at par with what the aforementioned models on offer in our market.

Exterior
We have already seen the model as a test mule on multiple occasions. Moreover, we also have the international model to base our commentary on. Sure, there could be minor modifications for the India-spec model. Still, the overall design language won’t be too far away from the international model. Hence, at the front, it has the typical Skoda grille which is illuminated now. The angular grille will be encapsulated by a thick chrome slab to accentuate the bling. Apart from that, the sleek LED headlamps and integrated LED DRLs lend a premium outlook, typical to Skoda cars. There are characteristic creases on the bonnet too.

Additionally, the chrome inserts on the bumper enhance the overall road presence. In the lower section of the bumper, a regular black area is visible too. These grille sections will most likely be sealed off since EVs don’t need fresh air inside the powertrain (engine). Moving down the sides, one could experience the elegant alloy wheels. These are not too fancy or aerodynamically designed, but we might get a new set of alloys at the time of the launch. The side profile is not busy with superfluous creases. The B and C-pillars are black along with the ORVMs. At the rear, there are split-LED taillamps which look rather compact. In the middle of the boot door, there is Skoda lettering. Finally, the bumper has a black element with reflector lights on either side. The shark fin antenna and roof rails complete the exterior design.
Interior and Features
We have come to expect high-quality materials for the cabin in Skoda cars. Enyaq iV won’t be any different. While exact details will surface closer to the launch, it will have a three-spoke steering wheel instead of the two-spoke design we find in the latest Skoda cars. Moreover, the centre console will consist of a free-standing touchscreen infotainment display, and it will have the latest active driver assistance amenities, electric parking brake, premium materials on the dashboard, upholstery and door panels, digital cockpit instrument cluster, head-up display, ambient lighting, electric sunroof and more. It will be a feature-laden cabin.
