The electric vehicle market is booming in India and now Skoda plans to enter it with its popular Enyaq iV electric SUV. In fact, it has been spotted in the flesh in India. What is interesting is the fact that it was not under any camouflage. VW has been testing its ID.4 electric crossover for a while now. Enyaq and ID.4 share the same MEB born-electric platform. Also, VW and Skoda are a part of the same Volkswagen Group. Hence, these two premium electric cars are definitely making their way into our market. Skoda will import the first few units to test the waters. The next course of action will depend on the success of Enyaq.

Skoda Enyaq iV Electric SUV Spotted
These images come from 95pistons on Instagram. They capture a white Enyaq iV somewhere at a food plaza on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway. Skoda has been testing it for a while now. In fact, we might see the launch in the coming months. Petr Solc, Director at Skoda Auto India mentioned in a recent interview, “We will start with the Enyaq which we will bring in the current fiscal year and would like to test the market. If the market is positive, we will see how to bring more EV models.” This is a clear revelation of the strategy that the Czech carmaker plans to adopt for the Indian market.

Interior and Features
The interior of the Enyaq is also visible in these latest spy images. Interestingly, there is a three-spoke steering wheel as opposed to the two-spoke unit that we see on existing Skoda cars like the Kushaq and Slavia. There is a colossal free-standing infotainment touchscreen at the centre, an electric parking brake, premium elements of the door panels, dashboard and around the centre console. That is expected from a car of this segment. As per some reports online, the electric SUV will measure 4,648 mm in length and 1,877 mm in width.

Specs
While nothing is official yet, we reckon the Enyaq iV will come in its sportiest settings. This could include a 77 kWh battery pack that will power two electric motors, one on each axle for an all-wheel-drive configuration. This setup will generate a decent 265 hp of peak power allowing a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of just 6.9 secs. More importantly, it will have a WLTP range of 513 km which is quite impressive. In terms of charging capabilities, the Enyaq iV will have a 125 kW DC fast charging mechanism in place. Let us wait and watch when we will be able to experience this in the dealership showrooms. We might see the launch in the first half of 2024.
