Skoda Auto now offers 250 customer touchpoints across India. India is already the largest market for the Czech carmaker outside Europe. That is a testament to the success it enjoys in India. In fact, the sales reflect the love Indians have for the Skoda cars. Essentially, these are VW cars with a Skoda badge. For instance, the Kushaq and Slavia sold in the market currently, are based on the MQB A0 IN platform, bear engines and transmissions from VW, and share body panels with the Taigun and Virtus, respectively. Hence, Skoda is able to bring the cost of spare parts down considerably.

Skoda Has 250 Customer Touchpoints in India
Petr Šolc, Brand Director Škoda India recently posted about this great milestone in the India history of the brand. He said, “The Skoda growth strategy in India is about enhancing our product range and also ensuring that we are closer and more accessible to our customers. Our 250th customer touchpoint is a landmark in terms of numbers and reach across the country. We will continue to expand our network and enhance the ownership experience for our customers. This is geared towards welcoming more customers into the Skoda family, providing them with the safest cars in the market.”

He is evidently glad about the Czech carmaker achieving this record milestone. In the past, the lack of accessibility has put a lot of customer off from buying a Skoda product. This is particularly true for Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities. While the purchasing power of the residents of these cities has gone up significantly in the last few years, there were still a lot of concerns regarding the high maintenance and ownership costs of Skoda cars. That prevents a wider acceptance. But in the last couple of years, VW and Skoda have focused on localization and expanding reach. That has ensured that they are able to offer products at competitive prices and service packages.

What We Think
In addition to these factors, the latest Skoda products themselves have garnered a huge positive response from the new car buyers. The Slavia and Kushaq are among the most popular products in their respective segments. The sales volume has grown exponentially due to these two products in our market. Add to that the ever-expanding touchpoint network of Skoda, and this seems like a perfect recipe for success. Going forward, the competition in the market is only getting stiffer. Let us see how things pan out for the Czech auto giants in times to come.
