Cases of EPC error in Skoda Kushaq have gone down drastically ever since the carmaker replaced fuel pump to a more robust unit
Last year was dotted with multiple reports of EPC errors in the made-for-India MQB-A0-IN-based Skoda Kushaq. While the Czech carmaker took a few months to come up with a resolution, there was a drastic drop in the reports of malfunctioning after the fuel pumps of the compact SUV were replaced. The new fuel pump was said to be robust enough to handle lower-quality fuel. However, a fresh report of EPC error being encountered by a Kushaq owner has once again surfaced online. What makes it worse is that the owner in question here is a senior citizen who is now sceptical about using his new vehicle. Also, the service centre has refrained from divulging the details of the malfunction to the owner.

Skoda Kushaq 1.5 Faces EPC Error
As per the owner of this Skoda Kushaq 1.5, his car is barely 5 months and 2300 km old. Around a week ago, it stopped working while the owner was in the middle of a market The owner contacted Skoda through the helpline but was told they can’t be of any help and that the vehicle will have to be towed to the service station. Unfortunately, the car left the owner stranded once again just 2 days after it returned from the service centre. Writing about his ordeal, the owner says, “It’s horrible to run Skoda Kushaq now. The car has come from the garage just two days before after EPC error. God knows what these Skoda Gentlemen are doing. It is noteworthy here that the vehicle in question here is a Feb 2022 model and came factory-fitted with the ‘more robust’ fuel pump. However, so far, the service centre has failed to inform the owner about the reason for the error.

Also, it’s worth a mention here that other MQB-A0-IN models, like the Skoda Slavia, VW Taigun and VW Virtus, don’t suffer from this problem. Also, it was the initial few batches of the Kushaq that frequently faced such issues. While a few opined it could be due to the low octane fuel, others didn’t find it logical as cars from rivalling carmakers functioned flawlessly on the same fuel. Even Skoda didn’t pinpoint the issue but came up with a new fuel pump designed to be compatible with the lower quality fuel. We’re not aware of the owner of the Skoda Kushaq seen above has used bad quality petrol but we hope that this is an isolated incident and the saga doesn’t continue.
