Here’s a video of Toyota Fortuner, Tata Safari, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Thar trying hard to conquer this vertical hill climb.
SUVs like Tata Safari, Toyota Fortuner, Ford Endeavour and Mahindra Thar are very popular in the off-roading circles. Usually, these three are at the front of passing every hurdle easily. Here’s a vertical hill climb which seems very hard to tackle but easy for some of the vehicles in this video.
Here, you can see the owners doing a hill descent as well as a hill climb. While the descent might not seem that difficult, the hill climb is very difficult. To tackle this you require a good ground clearance as well as departure angles. After all this, the torque and power figures also matter a lot.

First up is the Toyota Fortuner which gets off-roading spec front bumper and a off set exhaust muffler. Both the downhill and uphill seem like a cakewalk for this SUV. Second up is Mahindra Thar which seems a bit worried in down hill. However, even for it, the uphill climb seems very easy and doable.
This Ford Endeavour is the one who tries hard but ends up failing in both the scenario. While doing the downhill, its underbody gets stuck and later has to be pulled by the Fortuner. Even while doing up the uphill, Endeavour finds it very hard and even after two tries, does not succeed. Last up is the Tata Safari which also easily does both the hurdles but ends up scraping its underbody spare tyre.
In the case of Endeavour, the driver does not seem to understand when to apply high raise to the engine. Also, it gets a comparatively longer body frame which makes it difficult. As for the new Endeavour, it is also of nearly the same length but has a much better ground clearance and electronics to make things work.
