Tata Harrier might have all the looks and styling of a hardcore off-roading SUV. However, it comes as a 4X2 and is put as a soft-roader only.
When Tata was going to launch the Harrier, there were many rumours of it getting a 4X4 system and high-end off-roading equipment. However, it came as a disappointment for the same when the Harrier did not get any of the desired equipment. The Harrier is a capable machine anyhow but still not as capable as the Hexa or Safari. Here is a video where you can see the Harrier going through a hardcore off-road hurdle here. It may look as hard as it seems but the wheel balancing act is difficult for many. You can see this Tata Harrier Black passing the hurdle easily, showing that it can still do something. Despite being a 4X2, the SUV has some tricks up its sleeves.

The owner usually does his off-roading trail with another Ford Endeavour 3.2 Litre. Between Harrier and Endeavour, there is no comparison as the latter literally gets most of the off-roading technology. The owner feels content about his Harrier and how it can try to match up to the might of Endeavour.
This is the pre-facelift Harrier which misses out on a couple of features and a BS6 engine. Under the hood, this Black Edition gets the same 2.0 Litre turbo diesel engine but produces 140 PS and 350 Nm of peak torque. The BS6 engines produce 30 PS more. Also, now, you can opt for a 6-speed torque converter AT along with the 6-speed manual.
Features onboard the BS6 Harrier include electric adjustment for driver seat, automatic headlamps, automatic rain sensing wipers, electric sunroof and bigger alloy wheels. Already existing ones include rear parking camera, six airbags, Harmon Kardon infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay and Different Driving Modes.

The prices of BS6 Harrier Manual variants start at Rs 13.69 Lakhs up to Rs 18.95 Lakhs. The automatic variants are priced from Rs 16.25 Lakhs going up to Rs 20.25 Lakhs (all prices ex-showroom). Soon, it will also get a turbo petrol engine that will produce more than 150 PS worth of horsepower.
