You must’ve been intrigued by all the futuristic movies featuring flying cars and thought that these are hundreds of years into the future but that might not be the case.
The Samson Switchblade is going to be the first flying car designed for mass production in the USA. With the advancement in technology, we are getting closer and closer to the world we might have seen in a sci-fi movie years ago. There have been many instances in the movies where a car is able to transform into a boat or an aeroplane. Basically, automobiles are shown that can drive on the road, float on water and fly in the sky. Are we finally close to that being a reality?

First in America
For reference, there are other flying cars out there. These include Jetson One but the Switchblade will be the first one in America. It is road legal and one would ideally be able to take it to the airport directly. Once there, it will spread its wings and tail and transform into a flying car in less than 3 minutes. Once the flying permission and approvals are there, it will be able to go up to a height of 16,500 ft. Finally, it will land at the airport of your destination city where it can be converted back into a street-legal car.

Not too many details regarding the Switchblade are available. However, it is reported to carry a 190 hp liquid-cooled 3-cylinder engine for road use. Also, the price is set at $170,000. One can book it after the flying tests are complete with a $2,000 deposit. The company claims that they have already received over 2,000 bookings. Let us see what the final product will look like and when will we be able to see it in action.
