The American auto giant has launched the more affordable iteration of its Meridian SUV
The Jeep Meridian has been launched at a more affordable price point with new entry-level variants. The aim is to make this premium mid-size SUV more accessible to a wide range of customers. This is done by offering the SUV in 5-seat and 7-seat layouts. The Meridian has always been a rival to the likes of the MG Gloster and Toyota Fortuner (although its current prices take it to a segment of its own). Also, the price range between Rs 25 lakh and Rs 40 lakh didn’t have many SUVs in India. That is what Jeep is targeting. Let us take a look at the details of the new trims of the Jeep Meridian.
New Jeep Meridian Trims Launched
The new Jeep Meridian is available in 4 versions – Longitude, Longitude Plus, Limited (O) and Overland. On the outside, the Meridian retains its bulky demeanour and imposing road presence. It gets the trademark 7-slat grille with chrome garnish, sleek LED headlamps, a sporty bumper with a chrome belt dividing it into two parts with fog lamp housings on either edge. On the sides, there are colossal alloy wheels with squared wheel arches, black roof with faux roof rails, chrome insert on the door panels and a chrome frame around the windows. The tail section incorporates a shark fin antenna, LED taillamps connected via a chrome bar, chrome lining on the bumper and a skid plate underneath the bumper. All in all, the SUV looks attractive.
New Jeep Meridian – Interior and Features
On the inside, the SUV offers tons of modern amenities including an elegant dashboard with soft-touch materials and premium upholstery. As soon as you get inside the cabin, you will be greeted with a colossal touchscreen infotainment display, while other functionalities include a large panoramic sunroof, leather-wrapped 3-spoke steering wheel with controls, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, 4×4 drivetrain, 9-speaker Alpine audio system, automatic IRVM, 30+ connected car tech features with Alexa support, wireless charging, and much more. Therefore, you get all sorts of modern amenities.
Specs and Price
Under the hood, there are no changes to the powertrain options. The new Jeep Meridian gets a 2.0-litre 4-cylinder turbo diesel mill which churns out 173 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. Performing the transmission duties is either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The lower trims are available in 4×2 configuration while the top version gets 4×4. Therefore, all sorts of needs of the buyers are taken into account and every customer will be able to find the best variant which makes sense for him/her. The prices start from Rs 24.99 lakh to Rs 36.39 lakh, ex-showroom.
