Royal Enfield Meteor Cruiser Motorcycle Price In India / Launch Date / Engine Details / Mileage / Features / Suspension / Braking / Design
Royal Enfield has been extensively testing a new cruiser motorcycle. They have the Thunderbird for that, but the new one is a successor. At an identical price range of the Thunderbird, Royal Enfield is going to bring in the new Meteor cruiser.
The styling is quite identical to the Thunderbird as most of us were earlier assuming it to be the latter. We are expecting Royal Enfield to launch this motorcycle very soon as Thunderbird is yet to receive its BS6 upgrade.
Royal Enfield is said to be working on smaller capacity engines too. It has already discontinued the bigger 500cc engines due to the BS6 norms. The 350cc motor has already been upgraded to the emission norms.
Royal Enfield Meteor Price
Meteor | |
Expected Price (ex-showroom) | Rs 1.80 Lakhs |
Royal Enfield Meteor is expected to demand a price of around Rs 1.80 Lakhs (Ex-showroom). As told earlier, it will be priced around the range of Thunderbird 350. As of now, the latter comes at a price of around Rs 1.60 Lakhs and is yet to receive its BS6 upgrade. Taking the upgrade costs into consideration, we expect the Meteor to go for the above-mentioned price.
Royal Enfield Meteor Launch Date
Meteor | |
Launch Date | June 2020 |
Going by the spy shots, the Meteor is currently in its final testing stages. We are expecting RE to bring it in by mid-2020, latest by the month of June. The norms are going to kick in from April 1 and there are high chances that there won’t be any replacement for Thunderbird for 1-2 months.
Royal Enfield Meteor Engine Specifications
Engine | 350cc air-cooled with fuel injection |
Power | 19.1 BHP |
Torque | 28 Nm |
Gearbox | 5-speed |
It will get the heavily revised 350cc air-cooled fuel-injected engine from BS6 Classic 350. The engine now produces 19.1 BHP and 28 Nm of peak torque. The torque remains the same but the power figures are down by a minor 0.8 BHP. The same 5-speed gearbox is used with the engine.
There are chances of it coming with a smaller 250cc engine as well. RE is said to be working on the smaller engine so that it could start off at a more affordable price range. Also, the smaller capacity motorcycle would offer more fuel efficiency.
Royal Enfield Meteor Mileage
Fuel Tank Capacity (exp) | 20 Litres |
Mileage (expected) | 35 kmpl |
Riding Range (as per expected mileage) | 600-700 Kms |
Top-Speed | 115 km/hr |
We are expecting Meteor to get a 20 Litre fuel tank capacity. Since there’s fuel injection added and certain changes done to the engine, it will offer 10-15% more mileage. With an expected efficiency of around 35 kmpl, the bike can deliver anything between 600 to 700 kms. The estimated top speed of the motorcycle should be around 115 km/hr.
Royal Enfield Meteor Suspension
Front Suspension | Telescopic Forks |
Rear Suspension | Twin Gas-Charged Shock Absorbers |
The suspension setup will remain the same as seen on other RE motorcycles. Telescopic forks at the front and twin gas-charged shock absorbers on either side will be offered with Meteor.
Royal Enfield Meteor Brakes
Front Brake | Disc |
Rear Brake | Drum / Disc |
ABS | Single Channel ABS / Dual-Channel ABS |
Royal Enfield might offer the Meteor in two variants, like the Bullet and Bullet X. One variant will get a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the back, with a single-channel ABS. The costlier variant will further get disc brakes at both the ends with a dual-channel ABS as standard.
Royal Enfield Meteor Dimensions
Length | 2060mm |
Width | 790mm |
Height | 1205mm |
Wheelbase | 1350mm |
Weight | 185 kgs |
Seat Height | 775mm |
The dimensions of Meteor would be similar to that of Thunderbird. It will be around 2060mm long, 790mm wide and 1205mm tall. The wheelbase might be altered by a bit from the current 1350mm of Thunderbird. Also, RE has confirmed that the new generation bikes will be lighter. So, we are expecting a 10 Kgs drop on the kerb weight of the Meteor.

- Projector Headlamps
- Digital Fuel Gauge
- Digital AMP Meter
- Rotary-Type Switches For High/Low Beam

Competition
Meteor is expected to be priced under Rs 2 Lakhs, which will attract a lot of rivals. Starting off, there are the three Jawa motorcycles, all priced under Rs 2 Lakhs. There are options for power cruisers like Mojo 300 and Dominar 400. Also, you can opt for the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 and KTM RC 200. In naked streetfighter department, you have the option for KTM Duke 200, Duke 250 and Suzuki Gixxer 250.
However, RE motorcycles have never had big competition threats. Most of its sales come through their loyal fan base, who are willing to overlook all the problems or issues that a Royal Enfield has.
