Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 Brings Handful of Updates
The current Royal Enfield Himalayan, which comes with a 411cc heart, has been quite successful. However, even though the chassis and electronics have proven to be robust, the 411cc single-cylinder long-stroke engine has had some issues. While it offers an excellent torque delivery, the rather medicore power spread that impacts highway performance. To solve the problem, Royal Enfield is introducing a completely new liquid-cooled engine, expected to deliver approximately 40bhp of power, while the exact torque figures remain undisclosed. This new engine will be paired with a 6-speed gearbox. To support this upgraded powerplant, Royal Enfield has developed a redesigned chassis that enhances rigidity and utilizes the engine as a structural component.
The upcoming Himalayan 450 will feature a handful of design changes compared to the current model. Its fuel tank now boasts a round shape, a departure from the boxy design of its predecessor. Additionally, the new iteration features a split seat design and a divided front fender. The headlight has been upgraded to a full LED unit, sourced from the Super Meteor 650. Furthermore, expect enhanced suspension with the inclusion of USD forks at the front. As the adventure motorcycle market in India becomes increasingly competitive, the Himalayan 450 could be the key for Royal Enfield to establish a strong presence. Given the positive global reviews and acclaim received by the previous model, there are high expectations for the new Himalayan. However, based on the company’s track record, we have confidence that Royal Enfield will meet these expectations and deliver an impressive product.
