Royal Enfield has recalled nearly 7000 units of Bullet and Bullet Electra models. The recall has been issued due to faulty brake calliper bolts.
Bullet and Bullet Electra models manufactured between 20th March and 30th April 2019, have been recalled. Royal Enfield officials have detected faulty brake calliper bolts in the 7000 units manufactured in these dates.
The bikes affected will be repaired free of cost at the authorized service centres. The manufacturer has stated that the torque maintained on calliper bolts were not compliant with RE standards.
Brake calliper bolt is an essential part of braking system securing the brake hose and brake calliper. The dealerships are notifying the buyers of the affected models to get their bikes checked.

Royal Enfield Bullet and Bullet Electra were recently updated with ABS as standard fitment. The 350cc variants get a single-ABS setup, while the Bullet 500 gets a dual-channel unit.
Bullet 350 uses a 346cc air-cooled single-cylinder engine with TwinSpark ignition. The motor produces 19.8 BHP at 5250 RPM and 28 Nm of torque at 4000 RPM. The engine comes mated to a 5-speed gearbox.
Bullet 500 uses a 499cc air-cooled engine, that delivers 27.2 BHP at 5250 RPM and 41 Nm at 4000 RPM. A 5-speed gearbox is also seen over here. Reportedly, at the 2020 Auto Expo, these engines will receive major updates.
Recently, a test mule of the new Royal Enfield Classic was spotted. It got a new seat, redesigned tail lamp and fuel tank and sprocket on the left side. A BS-6 engine could have been possibly equipped too.

We expect most of the models in RE’s lineup to receive a major overhaul by next year. The engine might receive some retuning for a better performance and increased fuel efficiency.
The Bullet 350 ABS goes for Rs 1.21 Lakhs and the 350 Electra for Rs 1.35 Lakhs. The former variant receives a price hike of Rs 3,500 and Electra gets a mild hike of Rs 1,100. The Bullet 500 gets costlier by Rs 12,000, now priced at Rs 1.88 Lakhs (ex-showroom prices Delhi).
