Renault will showcase the Zoe EV at the 2020 Auto Expo and while there is no word of it coming to India yet, it has a claimed range of 385 km on a single charge, more than most other EVs in India.
The 2020 Auto Expo is just round the corner and Renault has a 12-car strong lineup for display at the Expo. It will include Renault’s existing line of products, new HBC sub-compact SUV concept and other models from its global range of products as well. One among them will be the Renault Zoe EV. Just before the Auto Expo kick starts, Renault has dropped us a teaser of the Zoe EV hatchback.
The global-spec Zoe EV received an update in 2019 and now its more powerful and has a lot more tech on offer as well. The Zoe is a small, compact all-electric hatchback that has a very clean design and yet, it looks very beautiful. It has very nice proportions and the clean body work is then accentuated by the sharp looking full-LED headlamps, a dominating Renault logo and funky bumpers with fog lamp housings.
At the rear, the Zoe continues with its clean and minimalistic design language with rather cute looking LED tail lamps. In profile, the car has subtle creases and curves, all of which beautifully compliment the car. There are alloy wheels ranging from 15-inch to 17-inch, as well as LED turn signals on the side mirror caps.
On the inside, the dashboard is dominated by a frees-standing 9.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system that has been mounted vertically. It also gets a digital instrument cluster and climate controls that are similar to what we have seen on other Renault cars. It even comes with features such as LED ambient lighting, wireless charger, rear USB sockets, an electronic parking brake, an electronic gear selector and even a driving mode selector.

The main highlight of the Zoe EV is however under its hood. The Zoe EV is powered by a 52kWh battery pack, pushing out 134PS of power and 245Nm of torque. This propels the hatchback from naught to 100 kph in 9.5 seconds and gives it a top speed of 140kmph. The Renault Zoe EV boasts of a WTLP-claimed range of 385km on a single charge. That is significantly more than Tata Nexon EV’s 312 km of range. In fact, that’s more than most other EVs we have seen here in India. It also supports fast charging with a 0-80 per cent charge in 1 hour and 10 minutes.

While there is no indication of a launch date for the Renault Zoe, hopes are high considering the recent influx of EVs in India. If it goes on sale in India, it could compete against the likes of the Tata Nexon EV, Mahindra XUV300 Electric as well as the Mahindra eKUV100 considering its range capacity.
