The Renault Triber will be a key product in achieving Renault’s double sales target by 2021. The Triber will also be used for exports in other international markets.
The Renault Triber was just revealed last week and with this new car, Renault has very positive hopes with their position in the Indian market. They found great success with the Duster and the Kwid but not so much with the Lodgy and the Captur. However, with the Triber and its high dose of local content, Renault hopes to double their sales by 2021.
The Renault Triber is based on the CMF-A platform, a highly modified version of the Kwid’s platform. The Triber has sits in a very unique vehicle category. It is a sub-4m car that has seven seats, looks like an MPV but also has design elements of an SUV. All of this combines together to make for a rather interesting vehicle in itself. The Triber’s direct rival is the Datsun Go+ and also the upcoming Maruti Suzuki Wagon R 7-seater.
Renault India also has plans to export the Triber to other markets. The Triber will be made here in India and has been specifically designed for India. However, Renault thinks that the Triber will work pretty well in some other international markets as well and will also help boost sales here in India. In the company’s target to double sales by 2021, the Triber will be a key player.

As for the Triber itself, it seems a very promising car, one that could do really well in the Indian market. It has styled very attractively. The raised ground clearance, the body claddings all around, the bold Renault grille up front looks all very distinctive and sets it apart from the competition.
On the inside, the practicality and the versatility is a real highlight. Its also pretty decently feature loaded as well. Renault is even pitting the Triber against the B-segment hatchbacks. Renault also says the Triber will be 20% more affordable in terms of ownership than a conventional B-segment hatch.

Renault India is not banking on the Triber on just domestic sales. Exports will be a major player as it has been with the Kwid as well. Renault India has learnt from its mistakes in India with some products that did not do so well and they intend to correct those and get things right for the Triber. Renault has even said that there would be other new contributors as well in doubling their sales by 2021.
